SCRRA Metrolink Communication & Signals Installation - Southern Calif.
The Metrolink Communications and Signals upgrade contract consists of improvements, both capital and rehabilitation, to the Metrolink Railroad spanning 350 miles through five counties in the Southern California Region.
The main highlight of this contract is the Orange County Service Expansion project, which consists of upgrading fifty three grade crossings with safety enhancements such as advanced preemption tied into traffic signals, exit gates, pedestrian gates, and crossing cantilevers in efforts to establish the longest corridor of quiet zones in the nation at this time. These enhancements provide a secure crossing for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic while providing increased service in the region. In addition to the crossing safety enhancements, fourteen control points and signal Respacing are being installed to increase train service in the high traffic areas of Orange County.
Some highlights of this project include the installation of over 400,000 feet of conduit and nearly 100 miles of cable, which at completion will amount to over 200,000 manhours of work.
